I have been SO excited to share this session we did in Chicago last month! When I was looking at studios to rent and I saw this tub, it was love at first sight. I’m sure by now y’all realize clawfoots are my weak spot! I loved everything about this session, but to say it was a walk in the park.. well, that is NOT accurate.
I’m not gonna lie, it seemed like the universe didn’t want this session to happen at first. We had a couple of issues before we got on the road and right as we got on the road. We were waiting for a part to be replaced in our car that wasn’t a huge issue for driving, but gave us anxiety nonetheless.
We got a late start as we were making sure we had absolutely everything we needed AND we had both worked at the clinic the day we left for Chicago so we were already pretty tired. We hadn’t even left town when our hair and makeup artist let us know she had double booked herself and was unable to do the session.
I’m not gonna lie y’all, I was hella annoyed- especially after finding out that she in fact did not double book herself. In the end, everything worked out better than we could’ve planned, so I won’t go into any more details!
I immediately posted in a couple of photographer Facebook groups to see if anyone had a hair and makeup artist that would be available for the next day. I was SHAKING until everything came together. I did end up finding Dana Hamed through another boudoir photographer, as well as one other person who said she could do it after I had already hired Dana.
Through this whole ordeal and me messaging over ten makeup artists in Chicago, my own amazing hair and makeup artist Shae was considering whether she needed to cancel her appointments for the next day and hit the road. I didn’t know that at the time, but just the fact that she was willing to shows what an incredible person she is.
In the end, everything went so incredibly smoothly after that! We had more than enough time in the morning to check out all the places in Chicago that happen to not be legal in Iowa. Not only did we shoot up until the last moment we had the studio rented, but we also stayed at the coffee shop we did a reveal at up until they closed and were asked to leave. In hindsight, everything ended up coming together to create one of the most amazing sessions we’ve ever shot! I would like to believe that the four leaf clovers we found the day before played a factor in all of this as well.
I’m so thankful for all the amazing things that came together to make this session possible!
